Kade Pratt, a dedicated football player at Idabel High School, has been passionate about the sport since he was a child. “When I was six or seven years old, I wanted to try football and my mom found a little league team. After that, I stuck with it,” Kade shared, reflecting on the beginnings of his football journey.
His inspiration to play football came from simple, yet powerful, experiences. “I got inspired to play football when I started playing it at recess. My biggest influences are my mom and dad,” he said.
Kade describes the team at Idabel High School as more than just a group of players. “The whole team is pretty much like family, and everyone likes each other,” he noted, highlighting the strong camaraderie and unity among the team members.
As a key player on the team, Kade understands his role well. “To stop the other team from scoring and set a good example,” he said, showing his dedication to both defensive excellence and leadership on the field.
Looking ahead, Kade has set ambitious goals for himself and his team. “I want to break 100 tackles and make it farther in the playoffs than last year,” he said, aiming for both personal and team achievements.
Kade’s resilience was tested when he faced a significant setback. “Breaking my hand was a really tough time for me because we were on a really good run, and I couldn’t be out there with my team. I overcame it by getting better once I was healed,” he recounted.
One of Kade’s most memorable moments this season was during a highly charged game. “My most memorable moment from this season was probably the Broken Bow game. All the nerves and yelling between the fans and teams, it felt like a movie.”
Kade envisions a future in football or the military. “In five years, I see myself playing college football somewhere. If not that, then maybe the military,” he said.
The support from the community means a lot to Kade and his teammates. “It helps the team stay motivated when we see a crowd up in the stands cheering for us and gives us even more reasons to play harder.”
