The Idabel boys cross country team completed its most successful season in school history this year and head coach John Harjo couldn’t be more proud of his runners. Last year the boys competed in their first regional competition and this year progressed even further and qualified for the state meet in Oklahoma City.
Throughout the season the team was very successful and had a great time competing over the course of the fall. At Idabel’s home meet the team had five runners medal – a feat the school had never accomplished before.
Freshman Baker Hoskins was impressive and medaled in nearly every event this season. Hoskins also plays on the basketball team and is looking to make an impact on the hardwood as the season approaches. In his first year running cross country he exceeded expectations and has a very bright future ahead in the program.
Senior Nate Young also medaled in nearly every event in his first season running cross country. Young has been a member of the track and field team and according to coach Harjo you could never tell that this was Young’s first year competing in cross country.
Cole Grant medaled at Valliant and Wright City and is an outstanding student at Idabel. Grant had a great showing at the state meet and finished with a time of 19:16.62 and finished 82nd overall.
