OFFENSE
A fresh era of Idabel football is underway, and head coach Braxton Kincade is making sure the Warriors are ready to make some noise. Entering his first year as head coach and third overall with the program, Kincade is leaning on a gritty group of veterans while grooming a crop of young talent. “The Idabel Warriors will have a solid mix of youth and experience. This year’s team will be overlooked by some, but these kids are ready to make a playoff push,” said Kincade.
Leading the offense is Mackylan Dixon (5-8, 160, Sr.), who makes the move from wide receiver to quarterback. His athleticism and big-play ability make him a dual-threat under center. Dixon will have an experienced center in Sergio Torres (5-9, 210, Sr.) snapping the ball, providing consistency in the trenches. Weapons on the perimeter include wideouts Jordyn Lewis (6-0, 175, Jr.) and Benny Mthethwa (6-3, 185, Sr.), while running back Quince Pond (6-2, 220, Sr.) brings size and power to the backfield. “Our older guys are paving the way for the young guys, and everyone is buying in to what we’re trying to accomplish,” Kincade said.
The offensive line is anchored by Chris Bloodsoe (6-2, 215, Sr.), a standout two-way lineman with athleticism and skill. Bloodsoe is coming off a monster season and will also play a critical role on defense.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side, Bloodsoe returns as a dominant force. Last season, he recorded 79 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and an interception. His versatility and motor make him one of the top defensive ends in the state. Linebackers Quince Pond and Crew Coursey (6-2, 215, Sr.) give the Warriors size and experience in the middle of their 3-3-5 defense.
In the secondary, Lewis and Dixon return as starting corners. “Idabel football will be dangerous this year!” Kincade emphasized. Lewis, who started as a freshman, is a lockdown corner who will also see more offensive snaps this year.
Watch for underclassmen Bryce Bee (So.) and Jecoryous Frost (Fr.) to emerge as playmakers in the trenches and at skill positions.
