Idabel’s Aliyah Browning-FFA Spotlight

Aliyah Browning has learned that making a difference often starts with recognizing a need and using whatever talents you have to help.

The Idabel High School sophomore has found her way of doing that through auctioneering.

Through her charitable platform, Browning Benefits, Browning has helped raise more than $235,000 for families, individuals, organizations and charities in need. The work combines her desire to serve others with skills she has developed through FFA and 4-H.

“You can’t be all the good the world needs, but the world needs all the good you can do,” Browning said of the best advice she has received.

Browning shows hogs and chickens and competes in livestock judging, public speaking and auctioneering. She also serves as sophomore class secretary and is involved in Student Council, FCCLA, Key Club, Interact Club, FFA, 4-H and the Choctaw Youth Advisory Board.

Livestock showing has taught Browning how to handle circumstances she cannot control.

“Success isn’t always about winning — it’s about the character you build through the process,” she said.

That lesson carries additional meaning because of challenges Browning has faced away from competition. She considers overcoming supraventricular tachycardia one of her proudest accomplishments. After being diagnosed with SVT, Browning underwent a cardiac ablation, during which doctors discovered she had a rare form called multifocal atrial tachycardia.

“Going through that experience at a young age taught me resilience, strength and to never take life for granted,” Browning said.

Her family supported her throughout that experience and her journey into agriculture. Browning did not grow up in agriculture, but when she discovered her passion for it, her parents learned alongside her, researched the industry and took her to shows and contests.

“Everything I have accomplished has my family’s fingerprints on it,” Browning said, “because they were willing to believe in me before I knew what I was capable of.”

That support has helped shape how Browning approaches serving others. Whether she is in the show ring, speaking before an audience or calling bids at a fundraiser, she wants her talents to have a purpose beyond herself.

“If I can give someone hope when they need it most and leave my community better than I found it,” Browning said, “then I’ve done my job as an auctioneer.”
