IDABEL WARRIORS
COACH: Burtchal Griffin
Record: 20-8
OUTLOOK
After a strong 20-8 season, the Idabel Warriors are ready to make another statement on the court under longtime head coach Burtchal Griffin, who enters his 12th year leading the program. Known for their relentless pressure and fast-paced style, the Warriors will once again rely on their trademark defense to fuel an exciting offensive attack.
“Idabel Warriors will [be an] exciting team that will attack you full court with pressure defense,” said Griffin. “We return three starters from last year’s team such as Baker Hoskin, Chris Bloodsoe, and Jordy Lewis.”
Leading the charge is senior Baker Hoskin (6-5, Sr.), a versatile guard-forward who averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. Griffin says Hoskin’s combination of size and skill makes him one of the toughest matchups in Oklahoma high school basketball. “Baker Hoskin’s skill level at 6-5 makes him one of the most unguardable players in the state of Oklahoma,” Griffin said.
Alongside Hoskin, Chris Bloodsoe (6-4, Sr.) brings strength and consistency to the frontcourt, contributing 9 points and 5 rebounds per game last season. Junior guard Jordy Lewis (6-1, Jr.) adds energy and defensive pressure, posting 7 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists per game while being a key part of the Warriors’ full-court attack.
Griffin is also excited about his young players stepping into bigger roles, including Aydien James (6-3, So.), a promising guard-forward who averaged 2 points per game a year ago. “Aydien James will be one of our Warriors team’s leading scorers for this year’s team,” said Griffin.
The depth continues with Jaime Ray Clerkley (5-7, Fr.), Joe Hoskin (5-11, Fr.), Titus Baker (6-4, So., 3 points, 2 rebounds), Zailyn Watson (5-9, Fr.), and Michel Poafpybitty (6-1, Sr.), all bringing valuable energy and athleticism to the rotation.
With returning experience, new talent, and their signature intensity on defense, the Warriors are set to keep opponents on their heels all season long.
